On a Halloween night in 1975, filmmaker Peter Farrelly encountered a massive, mysterious object in the sky—an experience so surreal it left his legs weak and a lingering mystery that remains unanswered decades later.

Peter Farrelly, the filmmaker who took home a Golden Globe for his movie Green Book, spoke recently about a strange encounter he had with what he thinks was an alien spacecraft. This occurred on Halloween night in 1975 when he was driving home from the University of Rhode Island late at 3 am.

In an interview with Kevin Pollak on his Chat Show, Farrelly said he noticed something unusual in the sky. He described it as a huge rectangular object with multiple lights on the underside. He estimated the object was several hundred yards up in the air, and said it was about the size of a football field, although he couldn’t say for sure.

“It’s straight out of Star Wars, I’m telling you,” Farrelly said. “It’s when you see the thing come over, and it won’t stop. So shocking was the experience,” Farrelly said, that his legs turned weak and “completely rubbery.” He even struggled to push down on the gas pedal in his vehicle.

The next day, Farrelly heard a radio announcer asking for people who had witnessed a UFO the night before to call a certain phone number. When he called, they noted they were simply “taking a poll.” But when he dialed the same number two weeks later, he found out it had been disconnected. He also pointed out that the radio station never brought up the poll or the UFO ever again.

Almost 40 years later, Farrelly is still convinced what he saw was, indeed, an “unidentified flying object” – at least in the literal term. He won’t say if it came from Earth or elsewhere, just that it was an object he couldn’t identify.
