Weird Darkness AI Use Policy

Weird Darkness AI Use Policy

Effective 3/1/2025

Here at Weird Darkness, it’s just me — Darren Marlar — writing, producing, narrating, editing, and running everything behind the scenes. And with that much on my plate, I’ve started using some AI tools to help keep things running smoothly without losing the human touch that makes the show and brand what it is, while at the same time allowing me to bring that much more content of the strange and macabre.

I see AI not as a threat to creativity or storytelling, but as a tool — one I can guide, edit, and shape to help tell more stories and explore even weirder darkness – and more indepth. Think of it like this: where I used to spend hours summarizing, brainstorming, or fine-tuning every single sentence from scratch, now I sometimes hand those tasks off to AI to assist — but never to replace.

To be completely transparent, here’s how I use AI at Weird Darkness:

  • Stories you hear or read — whether it’s true crime, cryptids, paranormal encounters, or eerie history — are handpicked, edited, and approved by me. If AI helps write or reword anything, I go through every line myself to make sure it fits the tone and quality you’ve come to expect.
  • If AI plays a role in writing or summarizing an episode or story, I’ll make a note of it at the end of the description or blog post. You’ll still see my name on it, because I’ve reviewed, edited, and signed off on every word.
  • I do sometimes use AI-generated art, especially for blog posts, thumbnails, or story-specific imagery. These are always reviewed by me before publishing — and, let’s be honest, they help keep things spooky without me having to draw stick figures at 2 a.m.
  • If there’s ever an error — whether from AI or my own human brain — and you spot it, please let me know. I’ll fix it, and I’ll note the correction at the bottom of the page or description.
  • AI isn’t replacing anyone at Weird Darkness… because there is no one else. I use it to help increase the amount of content I can deliver to you without burning out — not to take away the heart and soul of the show.

At the end of the day, Weird Darkness is still my creation — AI just helps with the heavy lifting here and there. The stories, the research, the narration, the tone… that’s all me. The creeps and chills? That’s all us.
