FBI’s UFO Squad Concerned About Job Security

As government agencies intensify their investigations into unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), a specialized FBI team faces an uncertain future—just as the mystery in our skies deepens.

A specialized group of F.B.I. agents who investigate unidentified objects in the sky are worried about their jobs, several people familiar with the situation said. These agents research what the government refers to as “unidentified anomalous phenomena” (UAP) — a scientific description of what many people previously referred to as UFOs.

The team includes a national manager and more than a dozen agents in the region, who spend a good deal of their time investigating reports of unusual objects in the sky. They collaborate with witnesses and pilots who encounter strange things during flights.

Ryan Graves, a former Navy pilot himself who heads a group called Americans for Safe Aerospace, has been aiding these F.B.I. agents. “These agents are doing amazing work investigating unusual objects in our skies,” he said. “It would be unfortunate if their important research had to cease.”

There’s nothing unusual about the FBI being interested in such sky mysteries. Our military headquarters, the Pentagon, had a similar (publicly known since 2017) program called the Advance Aerospace Threat Identification Program. Even since then, Congress has pressed for further investigation of such incidents, with support from both Republican and Democratic lawmakers.

And some high-placed government personnel have reacted strongly to these investigations. John Ratcliffe, who formerly headed U.S. intelligence agencies, said on Fox News that there have been “lots of sightings” of objects that maneuver in ways our existing technology cannot explain. These objects have been observed by navy and air force pilots and even recorded by satellites.

The F.B.I. said that it investigated such incidents only when they involve a potential threat to national security or a violation of federal laws. What they are aiming to do is safeguard the nation by collecting and studying details about any possible threats in our skies.

This article explains how seriously the government is taking the investigation of unexplained objects in our skies, and how various agencies are collaborating to try to understand these mysteries while ensuring the safety of our country.
